Helping the Community
Llantwit Major Milers are a community running club run by volunteers who believe it’s important to link up with other local community groups. Some of our Community work so far has involved:
Llantwit Major Rainbow Group
Linking up with the Llantwit Major Rainbow group (pre Brownies) to deliver their Agility badge, enabling 17 children to successfully gain the award.
Plant Llantwit’s
Llantwit Major Milers participated in ‘Plant Llantwit’s’ community project, helping to plant hundreds of saplings at Llantwit Major’s Rose Dew Farm.
Ysgol-Y-Ddraig
We’ve volunteered at Llantwit Major Primary School, Ysgol-Y-Ddraig delivering after school fun running sessions to pupils.
Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan
During lockdown in July 2020, 86 club members virtually ran from Llantwit Major to our twin town Le Pouliguen in France and back covering 874 miles in less than 4 days. We raised over £1,000 for local charity ‘Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan’ whilst also raising the profile of the newly reformed ‘Llantwit Major Twinning Association’.
